Chinese Overseas: Celebrating the Legacy of Scholarship & Coll

8:10 am–4:00 pm

Sponsered by UC Berkeley Library, and co-organized by Department of Ethnic Studies, Institute of East Asian Studies (IEAS), Bancroft Library, Center for Chinese Studies (CCS), this symposium celebrates the intellectual contributions of UC Berkeley’s research on Chinese communities overseas, including its archival collections from around the world. UC Berkeley holds one of the largest Chinese American archives. The rich collections of the UC Berkeley Libraries will be surveyed and discussed in the papers and tours that comprise this event. In the morning symposium, faculty, librarians, and curators offer presentations on specific talks and collections. In the afternoon, four collection tours will be offered.
